The Doughnut for Employee Activists by DEAL & Undercover Activist (Past)
DEAL & the Undercover Activist will explore how employees could redesign businesses to help humanity into the Doughnut
Please Note: This event has now finished and can no longer be joined.
The Doughnut has drawn great interest from change-makers around the world. It helps us envision an economy that meets the needs of all, within the limits of the living planet. But what can employees do to help create a Doughnut economy? In this webinar, we will introduce the concepts of Doughnut Economics, and how the deep design of businesses will need to be transformed to unlock the actions needed from them. And together, we will explore how employees can help drive this redesign of businesses needed to help humanity into the Doughnut.
The webinar is co-convened by Erinch Sahan of DEAL and Tessa Wernink of the Undercover Activist.
The Undercover Activist is creating a learning hub for employee-led change. The hub aims to embolden professionals to confidently organise and take positive action around climate change and social justice in their workplaces.

Hi, my name is Erin Andrea Craske. I am a transformational business and leadership success coach, mentor, trainer, and educator. I work with positive-impact-driven companies and ethical leaders who want to build profitable businesses with less effort. Often, I meet individuals who are overwhelmed by all the different things that go into being a good leader and running an ethical business. And quite often, the reason they have so many challenges is that they focus on the symptoms of the situation rather than the root cause, prioritising 'how-tos' over 'whys'. The symptoms may come in various shapes and forms, from motivation and leadership confidence to relationships, productivity, decision-making, organisational performance, perception, resilience to external factors, limited resources, scaling impact, or mere stress. It's like an ocean, where tranquillity reigns beneath surface-raging storms. Continuously addressing surface problems demands considerable effort, while tackling the root cause once and for all results in an effortless journey. In business, this translates to strategy; in leadership - to self-concept; in life - to personal freedom; and in profitability - to holistic and mindful business growth. So, aiming to make the world a better place, I empower ethical businesses and conscious business owners to live, lead, and create effortlessly, be their best selves, and achieve success on their own terms by embracing authenticity, following their own rules, elevating mindset, and mastering their state of mind. I invite them to step into Effortlessness. PERSONAL On a more personal note, I love alternative rock, the arts, and art history. I passionately advocate for mental health awareness, personal freedom, and the pursuit of effortlessness in business and life. My hobbies are neatly split into two distinct categories: those that nurture my mental well-being through mindful activities such as painting, sketching, drawing, photography, and videography and those that stimulate my mind through personal growth in psychology and philosophy. SUSTAINABILITY To me, sustainability revolves around people. They shape our society, often prioritising egos over ethics, leading to personal and collective misery, and harming our environment in the process. I firmly believe that to achieve global sustainability, we must first uplift humanity. Awakening human consciousness marks the initial step toward preserving our planet. The WorldGBC's health and wellbeing framework includes six principles for cultivating a robust sustainable built environment: undertaking climate action, prioritising comfort, fostering harmony with nature, safeguarding health (including mental well-being), encouraging positive behaviour, and creating social value. I view my role in sustainability as centred on raising awareness and actively advocating for, as well as contributing to, the latter four principles.

I'm a marketing and digital consultant with 20 years of experience in marketing/communications and 6 in sustainability. I support changemakers that accelerate the transition to a future where people thrive in balance with the living world. I do this via mentoring, leading, steering, overseeing, advising on or evaluating: - Marketing/digital marketing/social media strategies, campaigns, projects and operating plans that improve effectiveness - with the right resources, skills, governance and stakeholder alignment. - Digital marketing audit of channels, platforms, technology, skills or providers against objectives, best practice, competitors or regulation such as the Green Claims Code. - Marketing technology (effective, responsible, ethical use). - Building, bonding, growing, retaining and developing marketing/digital talent and functions. Over the past year, I've been doing research to understand what the most impactful ways are for addressing the intersecting crisis we’re facing (climate, ecology, economy, mental health, etc.) - so I can focus my energy there. Doughnut Economics has stood out as one of the most holistic solutions. I have read the book (and related resources) a few times, watched and attended DEAL workshops and sessions at events. I have also been spreading the word about Doughnut Economics and trying to embed it in my work. Particularly interested in: and joining up marketing and DE

Hello! I'm currently working as Source for the Piʌot Project - the emergent people-powered movement for regenerative transformation. [Towards a more beautiful future] I'm also a regenerative business designer, a bookseller selling nature/travel/adventures books that help folk reconnect with themselves and the rest of the natural world, as well as a collaborator with the Leeds Doughnut Coalition. Before finding my wings in 2020 I was the Head of Policy at the York and North Yorkshire LEP where I developed England's first, and only, carbon-negative Local Industrial Strategy, integrated the UN SDG's into our decision making and project appraisal processes and pioneered the implementation of design thinking in the public sector. In my work now I'm investigating the role that we puny humans and our powerful businesses can play in nurturing a more beautiful future via a post-growth economy.
