Doughnut Economics About DEAL News & Updates Meet the DEAL Team Careers FAQ Wider Movement Contact UsAlonso is fond of mathematical modelling, AI, software development, languages and music. Two things Alonso enjoys: addressing any problem that orbits around sustainability and programming. The latter he mostly does in python or R but he is a versatile person who comfortably treks across uncharted territories.
As a physicist, his research focused on molecules interacting with light. One possible application thereof lies in medicine (photodynamical therapy) but the very same topic also led him to building mathematical models of primary processes of photosynthesis - which plays a potential role as a source of renewable energy.
He holds a Masters degree in Physics from the Humboldt University Berlin and a PhD degree in Biophysics from the VU Amsterdam. He currently works as a Data Scientist at the City Council in Amsterdam.
