The Isle of Wight Doughnut
Introducing the Isle of Wight's Doughnut portrait at the Biosphere Festival
In the Island's first ever Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival in June, we saw it as an opportunity to launch and share our doughnut economics journey thus far.
The Isle of Wight Doughnut Economy working group formed in June 2023 out of an island based initiative called Together for Mission Zero. Over the last year we have gathered a growing group of Doughnut Economic enthusiasts, and have had a series of monthly workshops to explore the Island’s existing social and ecological fabric as compared to the rest of England. As we begin building an island portrait, we aim to continue sharing and co-creating our findings, in hope that we can inform better decision-making within any action projects that may take place on the island. https://sites.google.com/view/iwdonuteconomy/home
As part of our journey we have put together a video that tells the story of the Isle of Wight through the Doughnut lense. In order to facilitate communication of our story we have created a character called Isley. Isley represents the spirit of our island and will continue to help us expand and communicate our Isle of Wight Doughnut journey. https://youtu.be/j_K6yUT6Rqc
