Regen Melbourne Relaunched!
We’re very excited to announce that we’ve now relaunched Regen Melbourne
We’re very excited to announce that we’ve now relaunched Regen Melbourne and are beginning our next phase of work, together.
You can check out our new website here, complete with new branding and some beautiful illustrations. After so much work from so many people and partners, we’re thrilled to get to this point!
Our journey began during the second COVID-19 lockdown in Melbourne, in July 2020. A small group of interested organisations and individuals quickly became a larger group and a 9 month community-led research process began. This work utilised Doughnut Economics and the City Portrait process and explored our collective vision for a regenerative Melbourne. The process included participatory workshops, leadership interviews, roundtables and countless hours of data analysis, and the result was our foundational report Towards a Regenerative Melbourne, released in April 2021.
This work created the building blocks for a place-based and purpose-led network: we co-created a vision statement, a mission in the form of our Melbourne Doughnut, and a roadmap for collective action. Since the report was released, we have been busily working away at the right (or fit-for-purpose) structure and strategy to support our work. You can read our founding story in full here if you’re interested.
We would love you to check out our new website and let us know what you think. On the site you’ll see how we’ve organised our work around four areas:
- Projects: we are creating opportunities for Melburnians to start projects in their local neighbourhoods, as well as contributing to major projects for our city that demonstrate what regeneration and systems change is all about.
- Research: we are bringing our network together with Melbourne’s research institutions, aiming to accelerate the translation of knowledge into action, and action into knowledge. This will include our City Portrait work!
- Storytelling: we are co-creating opportunities to tell a different story of Melbourne, as we slowly emerge from this monumental economic disruption.
- Events & Gatherings: we have organised many forums and opportunities to contribute to both our strategy as a network and the projects that are emerging.
Excitingly, we are now a network of 120+ organisations and countless individuals. Our collective vision is clear, we’re striving for a city that thrives within the ecological boundaries and provides social, cultural and economic prosperity for all.
What happens next is up to all of us.

I am an Audiovisual specialist who, thanks to COVID-19, is now making one giant leap by going back to study Regenerative Actions at Ubiquity University. I recently moved back to Italy after spending 30 years between the UK and Australia. I am currently planning to unroll the Doughnut in my BioRegion of Tarquinia in the region of Latium, Italy.
