In July 2022, DEAL held a peer-to-peer gathering focused specifically on Data Portraits (previously known as City Portraits).
The gathering was open to all practitioners and researchers currently working or aiming to work towards a development of a Data Portrait, coming from local governments, communities, organisations or universities.
The Data Portrait of a Place methodology (previously known as Creating City Portraits) is part of the Doughnut Unrolled tools launched in 2022.
You can see the full presentations from the teams from Barcelona and Glasgow below. The teams shared both details on the data work, specific challenges in the process of developing the portrait, lessons learnt as well as innovative contributions to the methodology itself. Watching these is a must for anyone working on a Data Portrait for their own place.
The work is presented by Claudio Cattaneo, Independent consultant working for the Municipality of Barcelona in the Barcelona City Donut Project and Professor of Ecological economics and Degrowth at UAB, and Morena Hanbury, part of the Barcelona Regional Doughnut project team.
