With seven years of experience in diverse fields spanning the private and public sectors, I have gained a comprehensive perspective. Throughout my career, I have worked on various topics, including sustainable mobility, socio-economic and financial assessment, risk assessment, project evaluation, research, urban planning, and sustainability from different stakeholder viewpoints. This breadth of experience equips me with a well-rounded approach to tackling challenges, problems, and projects. Two years ago, I made the decision to pursue my dream of acquiring further knowledge in the field of sustainability. This led me to choose the Netherlands as the destination for my master's studies. Embarking on this path required a considerable leap in my professional journey, and while it was not an easy decision to start anew, my dedication to contributing to the creation of a more sustainable world remains unwavering.  Upon learning about the DEAL community and the specific role it offers, I was immediately captivated by the prospect of bridging the gap between theory and practice. Recognizing the significance of collaboration with key stakeholders, including businesses, cities, academia, and citizens. I consider that it is imperative that we take actionable steps to reduce adverse impacts on the environment and cultivate awareness of the planet's limits. This awareness is crucial for informing decision-making processes on a global scale, all from a sustainability perspective.

Hello, I'm Francine, I like to think of myself as a circular thinker. This mindset has brought me curiosity and encouraged me to question conventional thinking. As an expert in sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies, I co-founded Conexus.Earth in Australia, a consultancy that guides businesses to track their sustainability/ESG commitments with powerful methodologies and tools to build the journey to make actions. Mariana Pereira Silva is a PhD student, focusing on Development Studies. She holds a Master's degree in Fashion Branding and Design from IADE and UBI, completing her academic journey with the dissertation titled "Sustainable Fashion Communication in Retail: The Role of Ecolabels in Sustainable Fashion Consumption." Since 2021, Mariana has been working as a journalist specializing in  , culture, and global affairs, contributing to prestigious magazines such as Vogue and GQ Portugal. Mariana presented as a speaker at the Fashion & Sustainability conference at Universidade Lusófona in 2022 and the 2023 Sustainability Summit at ISCTE, Portugal. In 2023, Mariana founded Ethica - Sustainable Fashion Hub, a platform dedicated to educating both brands and consumers on . Currently, she works as a research assistant at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, contributing to the project "The Role of Portuguese Manufacturers/Suppliers in Sustainability-Oriented Innovation and Competitiveness in the Clothing and Textile Industry," supervised by Professor Céline Abecassis-Moedas and funded by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos.

I'm a project manager and map-maker. I've worked a lot with different types of data, especially in the Open Data space (using data that is publicly available). In recent years this has led me to an interest in sustainability in road traffic systems within Europe and towards sustainability in the more general sense. Anouk was appointed President of Decentralised Energy Canada (DEC) in 2003 and is one of North America's leading authorities on    Her continuous engagement with members and industry partners has contributed to the development of a national network of over 10,000 industry stakeholders. Through the design and implementation of innovation to commercialisation programs, she has ensured that DEC annually impacts over 50 small to medium sized businesses in Canada. The current focus of her innovation efforts are related to  and systems automation solutions with an emphasis on behind the fence energy generation. She has over 25 years of sustainable energy experience from working in the private sector, government, and academia. She lived and worked in the UK for 7 years where she conducted post-graduate research into  at the University of Leeds. She also served as the Senior Officer at Leeds City Council following the UK’s Home Energy Conservation Act (1995). Anouk has been recognised for her contributions to societal  , and including advancement of women in the workplace (Knovo Award 2016 and INSEAD Business as a Force for Good 2019) and has earned accolades for her leadership in environmental preservation (Emerald Award 2017 and Clean50 2020). She was born and currently resides in Calgary, Alberta and holds a B.Sc. in  from the University of Calgary.

I am Brazilian and I live in the Atlantic Forest in the Southeast region of the country, in Vale do Paraíba - between Serra da Mantiqueira and Serra do Mar. I have been a sustainabilityist for 20 years and I have been working with communication and socio-environmental education since then. Regeneration, nature, forests, conservation, climate, communication, humanism, socialtechnology are some of the topics that interest me.  A few years ago, I was very interested when I found out about the book Donut Economy and bought it to learn more about this dimension of sustainability. I recently found the Donut Brasil whatsapp group and joined in early 2022, when I had the opportunity to participate in the Reading Club to study the book's chapters and, since then, I've been learning, unlearning, exchanging and getting inspired about the thoughts, doings and relevant local and planetary issues that lead us to distributive and regenerative economies...

     For over 8 years I was building a "predestined" career in hospitality thanks to certain pressures from our family business. After years of yearning for a purpose and a more fulfilling career & lifestyle, I recently "greenquit" my job in luxury hospitality and started working at a cleantech company in Norway.
