I'm a Social Worker and a Master's graduate in Development and International Relations, with a specialization in Global Gender Studies. I grew up in a small town surrounded by mountains and that was (and still is) what made me aware of how important is respecting the planet that hosts us while guaranteeing the fundamental rights of all human beings. I'm still learning how to achieve both goals and I hope to learn and share experiences here that lead us toward it. Nowadays, I am working on the relationship between climate change and gender equality and actively committed to find alternatives to the current system in order to achieve sustainable development.

Aitor is a behavioral-ecological economist investigating demand-side solutions for climate change mitigation. His research interests lie in how citizens, both as economic agents and political subjects, interact with climate solutions. Aitor obtained his PhD in 2023 from the University of the Basque Country, where he focused on the limitations of information and economic incentives for promoting sustainable consumption. As a postdoctoral researcher at the USC Wrigley Institute for Environment & Sustainability, he is developing a research agenda at the intersection of decision science, consumer research, and ecological economics. Specifically, he plans to use experimental economics and quantitative social science methods to examine how demand-side solutions for climate change mitigation influence the norms, beliefs, preferences, and structural factors that shape resource and energy demand. By focusing on the demand side of the equation, his research revolves around the following solutions: Reducing, shifting, or making consumption patterns more efficient; divesting from fossil fuels and investing to accelerate the energy transition; adopting low-carbon lifestyles; and building political support for pathways to a net-zero economy.

A rather small Spaniard truly believing in the myriad possibilities for meaningful transformation hidden behind the current (for some, apocalyptic) times, if only we do the right thing. Mechanical engineer with a strong vocation for social/humanistic fields turned a Systems Thinker, I am currently looking at ways to combine a bunch of disciplines (Systems Thinking, Systems Innovation, Complexity, Circular Economy, Biomimicry, Engineering, etc.) towards the creation of renewed systems at the service and for the creation of thriving communities.

I am Spanish, I have a degree in Geography, a Masters in Strategic Territorial Development and have been living betwenn Spain in Portugal, in the frontier since October 2019. Professionally, I have 20 years of experience, always as a freelancer, working in different areas related to the territory: planning, participation, dynamization... For the last 15 years I have been working as a facilitator in territorial innovation and socio-ecological entrepreneurship, both as a facilitator of processes, as a trainer and mentor of social innovation projects or as a writer of several strategic territorial planning projects based on social innovation, both at regional and national level in Spain and internationally. As an independent researcher, I have developed several projects in which the Doughnut Economics model is always one of the strategic components. + info I am currently coordinating the BoraBeirã project in which the "LojaPlaneta" initiative is integrated. Helping create a life of freedom, equal opportunity and a shared responsibility for our planet is at the heart of my why. This has led to choosing social entrepreneurship, working on the transition to the doughnut economy. The doughnut economy feels like home to me. It is the world I want to live in. I have not encountered any other metaphor, framework or model that - to me - feels so complete. Within it everything I find important fits.
