I’ve been a ‘Culture and Sustainability Specialist’ for the past 23 years of my 40+ year museum career. I am convinced that a sustainable future must be built on a new foundation - which means transforming the cultural footing for individuals, groups, organizations and social systems within countries around the world - as well as the cultural footing for our global community. I approach culture as ‘how we live our lives’. And I see great potential in the existing global network of museums to expand their function beyond the existing framework of providing edutainment experiences in the leisure time economy. If museums can embrace the role of being catalysts of cultural change, then it is possible to achieve the structural changes contained with the Doughnut. Also, for the past 7 years, I’ve been a member of the Strongly Sustainable Business Model Group (SSBMG), which has been developing tools for fostering businesses that contribute to business, societal and environmental flourishing.
