Urban Heat and the Urban Heat Island Effect Workshop (Past)
In this workshop, we will explore how we all might come together to mitigate and adapt to heatwaves, at scale and speed.

Please Note: This event has now finished and can no longer be joined.
In this blog post, Brisbane’s green future: Climate action strategies aligned with sustainable development goals, Ali Cheshmehzangi talks about the need for “collaborations with local communities, businesses, and academic institutions”, “neighbourhood-based projects” and “collaboration [that] promotes a sustainable culture throughout the city.”
This is spot on, but how do we make it happen at the scale and speed required?
During February, as Australia experiences its hottest summer ever, we will work with ACF Community Brisbane Northside and The Shady Lanes Project to explore the issues within the framework of Doughnut Economics and ways that we might all might come together to create these collaborations, at scale and speed, to mitigate or adapt to urban heat. There will be at least one in-person workshop (this one), and others activities online.
