Join the Renaissance in Economics in Florence: Redefining Economics for a Better Future!
The world is evolving, and economics must evolve with it! The Renaissance in Economics International Conference, is our opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking movement that is reshaping how we understand, apply and teach economics. Join us as we move beyond outdated paradigms and embrace a more inclusive, participatory, and impactful approach to economic thinking.
The International Conference Renaissance in Economics serves as a vital space for critical discussion, fostering fresh perspectives on sustainable and inclusive economic systems. As economic challenges evolve, so must our approach. This conference goes beyond conventional thinking, advocating for a forward-looking economic framework inspired by our Manifesto for a Global Economic Renaissance, launched last year.
The Manifesto for a Renaissance in Economics is a groundbreaking declaration backed by over 350 leading Italian academics. This manifesto calls for an economic vision that values cooperation, ethics, and social responsibility over self-interest, therefore going beyond the concept of Homo Oeconomicus. It promotes a shift in business priorities, encouraging companies to lead with social and environmental impact rather than focusing solely on profit maximization. Moreover, economic progress should be measured through comprehensive well-being indicators, such as health, education, and quality of life, rather than traditional growth metrics linked to GDP. We warmly welcome contributions from diverse fields that focus on going beyond-GDP, on sustainability and sustainable transitions, including but not limited to Ecological and Environmental Economics (or any research dealing with climate change and other relevant issues). A multidisciplinary approach is highly encouraged to foster rich discussions and innovative solutions. Governance should go beyond top-down approaches and involve greater participatory decision-making, allowing communities and individuals to shape policies for a more just and fair economy. The manifesto calls for a renewed civil engagement of academics. They should actively influence policies, ensuring that research translates into real-world impact and contributes to meaningful economic transformation.
