Amsterdam Donut Festival
Every year, we organize the Donut Festival in Amsterdam. It's a day where we showcase all that's happening in the field of Doughnut Economics in Amsterdam and promote as much cross-pollination as possible between neighborhoods, researchers, education, the municipality, businesses, culture, communities, and donut pioneers.
After three successful years, this year it's getting even bigger! Inspired by Amsterdam, November 13th will be the first Global Donut Day. Under the motto 'Local Action, Global Connection,' more than 30 groups and networks around the world are organizing a local Donut Festival. These festivals are connected by an online program from the Doughnut Economics Action Lab.
Amsterdam Donut Day 2023
On Monday, November 13th, 15 Donut sessions will take place throughout Amsterdam, where we will demonstrate together that it is possible to apply Doughnut Economics at the city level.
The theme "Seeing is Believing" represents the visible and tangible evidence that the donut economy works in practice. No theoretical models, no vague promises, but compelling examples of initiatives in the city, both large and small.
In the evening, we will gather at Pakhuis de Zwijger to envision together what Amsterdam & the Donut will look like in 2025. Will you be there?

Born and raised in the heart of Wisconsin, my initial path led me to a career in physiotherapy, and for seven years I dedicated myself to helping individuals regain their physical well-being, but I felt something bigger was calling to me. My passion for sustainability sprouted from the fertile soil of my Wisconsin roots, and as I observed the delicate balance of nature around me, I felt an undeniable calling to protect it. I embarked on a new path - one that would allow me to create a profound impact on a global scale. In pursuit of my newfound passion, I transitioned from the world of physiotherapy to local government, where I learned the intricacies of policy-making and the importance of fostering sustainability practices within communities. As I delved deeper into the world of sustainability, my vision expanded beyond my local surroundings, and I yearned to be at the forefront of the global movement to combat climate change and promote sustainable living. I then embarked on a life-changing journey, relocating to the Netherlands to found The Waste Not Spot, a bridge connecting businesses, not-for-profits and governments to sustainable strategies that transcend borders.
