The Collective formed in October 2020 with the question, “Could the Doughnut help to provide a picture of how Devon is faring ecologically and economically? Would this be useful to people living and working here? If so, how, and to do what?”
Through our Coffee & Doughnuts sessions we are establishing contextualized domains, indicators and twin-track thresholds (for citizen-led innovation in parallel with policy making) in order to surface pathways for action. Rather than rely on available data we chose to focus on what makes most sense to measure here, in this place. We work with the power of scenarios and narrative, bringing in sector expertise to spark discussion.
The Bioregional Learning Centre is the convener of these sessions and we are seeing that it is this Doughnut codesign process itself–slow and considered, growing a widening circle of participants–that will build trust and strengthen the resolve needed to bring about a range of actions for resilience in the face of climate change. We meet every two weeks and everyone is welcome. We are very keen to help other urban and rural bioregions develop their own Doughnuts. Please get in touch via our website.

Lifelong concern for the planet and species . Interest in circular economy and reducing linear waste . Live as simply as I can with if societal constraints and infrastructure . Appalled at obsession with GDP growth model and its logical conclusion . Heard Kate seaworthy speak on The Rest is Politics Rory Stewart , Alistair Campbell Podcast. Want to be part of the build to critical mass for change.

Currently a full time #carer. Previously many things from #socialenterprise founder (mapping, connecting and regenerating eco-systems), global social impact consultant/mentor e..g. _SocialStarters, User Experience (#UX) researcher, workshop #facilitator/trainer (design thinking, social enterprise (e.g. On Purpose), games for autistic teenagers), start-up mentor (e.g. RSA), started a #PhD in Immersion/addiction in computer games (UCL), nominated to be a local #councillor, and an #ecommerce developer/account manager. I sometimes play computer #games/VR, especially when recuperating from a bad bout of #M.E/CFS which I've had for 25+ years. Love walking and exploring #forests in all kinds of places.
