I am the founder and rector of the University for International Cooperation, responsible for the institutional development since 1994. I’ve been involved in promoting regenerative development based on the Planetary Boundaries and the “Safe operating space for humanity”, to create innovative solutions to the current challenges through holistic approaches based on transdisciplinary teams working integrally the economic, social, cultural, environmental, political and spiritual realms. In 2018 I launched the Regenerate Costa Rica initiative, a multi-organizational glocal collective process to transform the country into the first actively regenerative one to show the world that it is possible. Adopting the Doughnut Economics framework to move forward with regeneration was an easy choice. The motto is that “we co-create the future we want”, and we are still on time to do it at a global scale. We need to bounce beyond to a regenerative world, leaving the obsolete system behind.
