Doughnut Economics About DEAL News & Updates Meet the DEAL Team Careers FAQ Wider Movement Contact UsI am director of a small UK Chocolate company - Lick the Spoon Chocolates. We put sustainability at the heart of business and have based it around the UN Sustainable Development goals for 2030. Since 2013 we have tried to not grow our business but evolve it such that every part of our supply chain and the chocolates we produce are sustainable.
We source our chocolate under a scheme named Raisetrade that keeps more of the value in the country of origin by producing a finished product in both Madagascar and Colombia. Our packaging is plastic free and 75% produced locally in Wiltshire. All of our heating and cooling is through heat pumps and we use 100% renewable electricity.
But of course it's not perfect and we're constantly working to try and improve.
Since the IPCC 1.5 degree report was published in 2018 i've redoubled my efforts both in activism, particularly lobbying both town and county councils as well as our MP. I've also worked on our neighbourhood plan economy group
